| IFS- Corrective Fitness
System Inc. is applying intelligence and financial
resources to design fitness equipment for the 21st
Century, namely, equipment that while improving body
fitness, protects and preserves the health of the
back. We know it to be a physiological fact that
muscle's dynamics require both traction and
contraction; we know it to be a health fact that
unmanaged physical stress is a deteriorating factor
for the body. It is medically proven that during any
physical exercises, the back is continually under
stress. Especially during weight lifting and
machine-based exercises, discs and cartilage are
under tortuous dilatation and/or compression. This
is because the entire body-dynamic hinges on the
lower back, and much of the exercise's stress and
weight is transferred to the lower back unless some
intelligent equipment designs are adopted.
It is a good preventive measure to isolate the
part of the body that needs attention, exercise and
allow the action to remain there. The Abdominal
Bench, like the other Corrective Fitness System
equipment, accomplishes that by providing an
adjustable lumbar support that neutralizes lumbar
muscles, thus concentrating the exercise right where
it is needed, making the abdominal muscles work much
harder and producing 100% results.
It is a good preventive measure to maintain
maximum spinal flexibility. A flexible spine is a
healthy one. Stretching muscles and ligaments helps
strengthen the spine, improve the vital flow of
lymph to the discs, and preserve intervertebral
cushioning, which means that the spine can take
occasional, brusque, and uncoordinated sudden
movements during sport activities and/or additional
stress without injuries.
It is a good preventive measure to provide
protection and/or isolation of the lower, weaker
back muscles such as the toracolumbars and the
erectors. Muscle imbalance can cause spinal
misalignment and displace the entire bone structure
of the body.
The fitness equipment of the new century must
take these facts into consideration. Presently, more
than 90 million Americans suffer from lower back
problems. The alarming fact is that a number of
physical fitness machines currently used in gyms
constitute risks for short- and long-term back
injuries. Inquire with us which machine they are.
This means that back problems will be on the rise
as general population's physical activity increases.
Sincerely,
Raffaele M. Pandozy, Ph.D.
